Antique Wooden Violin Case for the Birmingham City Brass Police Band c.1930

c.1930

A fascinating antique wooden violin case dating from around the 1930s, with a connection to the Birmingham City Police Band.

This is a wonderful piece of Birmingham musical and police history.

The Birmingham City Police Band was a historical brass and concert band active during the early-to-mid 20th century in the West Midlands, known for performing at public events, city center functions, and local Christmas lights switch-ons.The band was formed by officers and musicians within the historic Birmingham City Police force. Its hard to imagine in today's society the police force coming together to perform at local community events for the public to enjoy.

The case is of traditional shaped wooden construction and has considerable age-related character and patina. It would make an excellent display piece for a collector of police memorabilia, musical antiques, Birmingham history or vintage stringed instruments.

Size - 77cm X 29cm // Height 8.5cm

Condition - The box has lots of wear and needs a good clean. One end of the box is broken and needs a replacement piece of timber. A great little project of a rare piece of policing memorabilia.
