Antique Wooden Tabletop James Gardner Collectors Cabinet Chest of Drawers c.1880

Victorian C.1880

A charming antique wooden tabletop collectors cabinet, with the makers mark on the back for James Gardner - Bird & Animal Preserver.

This beautifully made chest of drawers features 6 small drawers, perfect for storing jewellery, coins, crystals & rocks, curiosities and other treasured collectibles. Each drawer glides smoothly and has matching knobs. Internally, 5 drawers are completely open so longer items can easily fit. One of the drawers is separated into smaller compartments.

Its compact tabletop size makes it ideal for a desk, workbench or display shelf, where it adds both function and vintage charm.

The collectors chest would have originally been kept counter top at one of the James Gardners sites and housed items and equipments needed for taxidermy work and animal preservation.

James Gardner was founded c.1840 and went on to accommodate multiple premises within London. Holding a royal warrant for Queen Victoria, the firm was well known and recognised for high quality taxidermy cases including exotic birds and mounted mammals often within glazed display cases with painted, decorative accessories and backdrops.

Whether used as a collector’s chestartist’s storage or simply a decorative accent piece, this antique cabinet is perfect for storing your small treasures and tools.
