Antique Wooden Church Collection Offering Donation Box / Money / with Key c.1900
Early 20th century c.1900
A church used mahogany tabletop collection donation box which would have been used to collect money for the church or any charity or missionary missions.
The wooden box features a concave design with a thin slat that would have been where loose change would have been distributed. The slanted design would have allowed money to be 'thrown' into the box and the coins would have slid down into the slot.
Below is a pull out drawer which features the original working lock and key. This would keep the money secure and able to be retrieved when the box was full.
As a counter top box, this would have likely either been placed at an alter or sideboard for people to donate as they entered or left the church.
A lovely piece of treen history and a fictional money box as intended, this is a great collectors item or someone looking for a unique storage box for their home or workspace.
Dimensions: 22cm x 14.5cm x Height 4.5cm
Condition: Good antique order. The drawer is quite stiff and requires a firm pull to get it out.
