Antique Wooden & Glass London Destination Bus Blind Box Train Sign 20th Century
A highly collectable and decorative item, this destination blind box would have been displayed on a bus or train to clearly indicate destinations.
The wooden frame houses a glass display front panel. Behind the panel are the different blinds which read different destinations that would have been for the relevant bus or tramline.
Featuring a full rolling blind mechanism, the blind is turned manually with the crank handle on the side. On the back is a sliding panel and a reference number stencil printed. The back has looking mechanisms and hinges to lift it up and reveal the inside mechanism and blind.
The blind inside this box has just three destinations that reads Barking, Excursion & Moorgate indicating this was used on a London transport line. You could easily swap this out for a blind with more on if you wanted.
Perfect for collectors of transport items, antique travel memorabilia and other interesting antique items. Perfect displayed in a hobby room, man cave or within a traditional antique style interior.

Condition: Good working order. Moorgate has a small tear in. Mechanism works well. Used to be wired up with a light fitting to illuminate, the fittings are still there if you wanted to re-wire it. No key for the locking back panel but a flat screwdriver works just fine to unlock and lock it.
