Antique Wilsons S.P. Snuff Storage Oak & Brass Barrel Storage Box / Jar with Lid
A historic and collectable early 20th century snuff storage box in the shape of a barrel - also known as a firkin.
It is a small wooden box with brassmetal banding around which would have made it perfect for discretely storing Snuff.
The front is marked 'Wilsons S.P. Snuff' and the base is marked 'On loan from J & H Wilson LTD Sheffield'. Wilsons of Sharrow had been producing the popular snuff brand for over 250 years. S.P. signifies it as a 'Spanish Plain' blend which was known for its aroma of tobacco leaves and Mediterranean citrus fruits.
A collectable piece of history, this item will look great displayed and add character to any decor.
