A high quality antique stationery box, dating to the late 19th / early 20th century, offering both elegance and practicality in a classic Victorian design. Beautifully crafted, this piece reflects a time when handwritten correspondence was an essential daily ritual.
The hinged lockable front opens to reveal a traditional compact desk workspace and storage cabinet. The fold down front is lined with green leather and makes the perfect writing pad space.
The fitted interior, complete with multiple compartments, pigeonhole sections, single drawer and pen rest - perfect for storing stationery, envelopes, post cards and other writing accessories. The interior also features a stationery holders front panel which rotates to reveal a sectioned letter / paper storage rack tray.
There is a larger drawer which is found below the hing fold-down front which is the ideal space to hold larger papers and stationery items. This is its own lockable pin - This can be found when the main section is open just above the makers mark plaque. Remove this pin and this then allows the base drawer to open.
The interior has the makers mark "Letts Son & Co. London Registered", a famous 19th century British stationer and writing company know for high quality desk accessories.
Externally, the box features a metal carry handle to the top and a working lock and key to keep contents secure.
This writing slope is as decorative as it is functional and ideal for collectors, writers or as a desk accessory in a home office or workspace. A lovely, stylish way to store and organise stationery items.
