An antique oak storage box with key and working lock. Crafted from solid oak, this box would have originally been used as a money box. It has since been repurposed and gifted to someone as a Christmas present by a person likely working on the H.M.S Cumberland.
This charming piece features its original lock and key, making it both practical and decorative. The accompanying card from H.M.S. Cumberland is stuck to the top of the box and is a rare maritime connection that adds a fascinating layer of naval history and provenance. Internally on the lid is a plaque engraved with the name of a previous owner.
H.M.S Cumberland was a heavy cruiser boat which was operational during the Second World War.
Whether used as a jewellery box, desk organiser or simply admired as a collector’s piece, this oak box is full of character and story. Will look great displayed upon a desk or sideboard.
Could also be converted back to a money box with the removal of the card and plaque.
