Antique Oak Carved Green Man Window Seat / Bench – 19th Century Gothic Revival

A striking 19th-century Gothic Revival oak window seat or bench, richly carved and featuring the iconic Green Man motif, symbolising nature, rebirth, and medieval folklore. Crafted from solid oak, the piece displays deep, confident carving with excellent attention to detail, typical of the Gothic Revival movement of the mid-to-late 1800s.

The bench offers both decorative presence and practical use, originally intended as a window seat but equally suited to a hall, home library, or any period-styled home. The Green Man carving forms a dramatic focal point, complemented by architectural Gothic detailing throughout.

Beautifully aged with a warm, time-softened patina, the oak shows expected signs of age consistent with its history, adding to its authenticity and charm. A rare and characterful antique that would appeal to collectors of Gothic, ecclesiastical, or Arts & Crafts-influenced furniture. Underneath the seat are a serious of carved motifs - A couple of these are missing.
