Antique Large Mahogany Apothecary Chemist's Shop Display Cabinet Drawers c.1890
A wonderful Victorian antique apothecary cabinet - circa 1890
This impressive piece has beautifully aged mahogany contraction with an elegant open shelving section above a bank of small drawers, each fitted with a traditional matching glass knob handles and original glass pharmaceutical labels.
The drawers retain the fascinating labels including Opium, Alumen, Aloe, Patents and other traditional medicinal preparations, offering a glimpse into the history of an old-fashioned dispensing chemist's shop.
The upper section features classical decorative columns, carved capitals and a substantial moulded cornice, giving the cabinet an imposing architectural presence. Below the drawers are two larger panelled cupboards, providing additional practical storage.
The cabinet displays a lovely warm patina, with age-related marks and wear that only add to its authentic antique character.
Splits into three sections for easier movement - the cupboard section, drawers and top shelving section. At the moment they all perfectly rest on top of one another but I would recommend using some brackets of screws to secure them altogether when in place.
Perfect for a period property, antique shop, retail display, restaurant, bar or stylish interior. Equally suited to use as a unique kitchen dresser, collector's cabinet or statement storage piece.
125.5cm X 25.5cm // Height 229cm
Condition - In good antique order for age and use. Some ring marks from bottles being stood on shelving. Some knocks and scuffs around the top cornice. One back panel board missing.
