Antique Large Bausch & Lomb Opticians Trial Lens Set in Wooden Carry Case

A large example of an opticians trial lens set housed within a fitted wooden case. 

The box contained rows of glass lenses in rimmed holders. The rows are organised and labelled with the diopter power values - along with being colour coded to differentiate optical properties such as minus/concave or plus/convex lenses. 

These sets were used as diagnostic kits during vision tests by inserting the glass lenses into trial frames to find the patients correct eye prescription. 

The wooden case folds flat for ease of storage and when opens, the hinged mechanisms lift the trial lenses so they become sloped and easily accessed / viewed. The case is secured shut with the latch closing mechanism. 

The makers mark can be found at the front underneath the lenses and reads "Bausch & Lomb Optical Co." along with the address "Rochester NY U.S.A". 

A lovely collectors item or perfect to display and be a decorative accent.
