Antique J & S Fry's Chocolate Confectionery Glass Shop Counter Display Cabinet
J. & S. Fry’s Chocolate Confectionery Glass Shop Counter Display Cabinet dating to circa 1910, a rare and highly desirable piece of early confectionery advertising and retail history.
Originally used in sweet shops and grocers to display Fry’s chocolates and confectionery, this impressive cabinet captures the charm and elegance of Edwardian shop fittings.
Featuring a glazed display case designed to showcase products while keeping them protected, the cabinet is adorned with original J. & S. Fry’s branding carved into the bottom plinth, making it an outstanding example of period advertising.
The combination of glass and traditional craftsmanship creates an attractive and functional display piece that would have been a prominent feature on a retailer’s counter.
The top has been later made up an added to the unit - It likely originally would have had a milk glass advertising panel which was missing so someone has cleverly made an additional box plinth to sit on top with an aged panel reading 'Fry's Milk Chocolate'
Displaying wonderful age, character, and authentic patina, the cabinet reflects over a century of history and commercial use. The rear opening door has the original mirror fitted and inside are two glass shelves with a green felt base to the bottom.
Ideal for displaying collectibles, chocolates, jewellery, or small antiques, this beautiful cabinet would make a striking centrepiece in a home, retail setting, museum collection, or period interior.
