Hand carved and bursting with character, this antique apothecary / medicine cabinet would have been displayed and used for holding medicine, medical supplies and grooming items within public and customer bathrooms and washrooms.
Featuring a mirrored door, open top shelf with detailed floral woodcarving, towel rail at the bottom and interior shelves and storage elements. The interior features a small box with pull handle which has a medical cross on the front.
The bottom of the door shows the makers mark which reads "This cabinet & contents is the property of The Initial Towel Supply co." along with their registered address and statement of loan.
The "Initial Towel Supply co." was founded in 1903 by an American soap salesperson who spotted a gap in the European commercial linen environment. They were well recognised for creating and loaning linen for use in office and public cloakrooms throughout the 20th century.
The cabinet now makes a wonderful bathroom cabinet in a home or work environment. Would look great in a vintage inspired interior in a bathroom or cloakroom.
The cabinet has wall brackets on the back for ease of hanging.
