A lovely oak tabletop haberdashery shop display needle chest by Morris & Yeomans. It would have originally been used in a shop to store and display packets of needles, threads or smalls.
Crafted from solid wood with a warm aged patina, the cabinet features inlaid oak three drawers. The drawers retain original gilded letter milk glass panels, reflecting its original commercial purpose. The drawers have been photographed with the drawers in the wrong order - these can be switched round to read "Dame Celebrated Neddle &c" which is advertising a trademarked name for a series of needles manufactured by Morris & Yeomans.
Cabinets like this would have been supplied to drapery or sewing shops when Morris & Yeomans needles and supplies were stocked.
