Antique Factory Wage Paying Cabinet / Pigeon Hole Unit / Hotel Key Holder c.1900

Circa 1900

Discover a unique blend of history and functionality with the early 20th century factory workers wage paying cabinet.

The charming piece would have bene wall hung in a factory where the managemnt would pay the workers wages.
Above each numbered section is a small money slot to allow coins to be passed through and into the metal collection trays behind.
At the end of the week, the cabinet would be unlocked and the workers could collect the earnings.
Originally the cabinet was fitted with 3 different locks - This was a theft prevention method so that one sole person could not open the cabinet alone - It would require 3 senior members or key holders to all be present to open the cabinet. However these locks are long gone and it now just has one later replacement lock fitted to the centre - Working order with key.

This wonderful piece is now ideal for securing keys or valuable small objects, making it a perfect addition to hotels or a distinctive statement piece for your home.
This piece not only serves a purpose but also brings with it a rich heritage from the turn of the century.
