Antique Edwardian Wooden Servants Bell Board / Butlers Call Indicator c.1910
c.1910
These were commonly installed in large houses, hotels and manor kitchens to allow household staff to see which room required attention.
This large sized example features a wooden case with a black glass panel, decorated with gilt lettering identifying different rooms. When a bell pull was activated in a room, the lower bell would ring and a small indicator flag would drop behind the corresponding window, signalling to the servants where service was needed.
On the front is the inscription "P. H. Allnatt Three Mile Cross" which likely references the maker or installer of the board, along with their address.
Bell boards like this are now great decorative pieces, often displayed in period homes, pubs, restaurants or collections of antique household equipment.
A great way to add character and charm to any home or setting.
Dimensions: 51cm x 38.5cm x 47cm (including bell) x Depth 7cm
Condition: Good antique order with no glass damage. All flags present. Minor surface scuffs and marks typical of age.
