The paperwork included includes various insurance documents, invoices and tags for sending parcels and large documents. The documents are all in great condition and can easily be read. These include different typography and designs making them an interesting piece of history in accompaniment to the stand.
The Road Transport & General Insurance Company, Limited was founded in 1918, originally providing specialist insurance for transport and motor vehicles. The company later expanded to offer fire, accident and general insurance, reflecting the rapid growth of motor transport in early 20th century Britain. By the 1920s it became part of the General Accident insurance group, one of the UK’s major insurers.
A wonderful collector’s item of British insurance history and early commercial advertising, perfect for display in a study, library or vintage shop interior. A welcomed addition to any collector of interesting antiques and historic items.
