Antique Advertising - William Crawford & Sons Sundial Shaped Biscuit Tin c.1920

A highly collectible early 20th century William Crawford & Sons Ltd “Sundial” biscuit tin

This striking and unusual tin is cleverly designed to resemble a brick and stone garden sundial mounted on a plinth, complete with a distinctive metal gnomon (pointer) at the top.

Produced by one of England’s most renowned biscuit manufacturers, this piece reflects the golden age of decorative packaging, when tins were designed for storage and as desirable household ornaments. Crawford & Sons were well known for their imaginative and finely detailed tins, which are ideal for collectors of advertising memorabilia and vintage kitchenalia.

The base of the tin is marked with the royal crest along with the wording "William Crawford & Sons Ltd. Biscuit manufactures" and showcasing their factories in "Edinburgh, Liverpool & London Great Britain".

The design gives the piece a strong decorative feature, making it ideal for display in a kitchen or as part of a collection. A great item for adding character and creating a 'cottage rustic' feel to an interior.

Dimensions: 12cm x 12cm x Height 23.5cm

Condition: Wear all over consistent with age. Lid closes and fits well on it.
