Antique Advertising - Waverley Pens Enamel Sign for Macniven & Cameron c.1910

Early 20th Century Advertising

A lovely example of antique stationery advertising is this wall mounted double sided enamel sign for Macniven & Cameron Ltd.

This sign promotes the company's stationery and in particular the Waverley (fountain) pen. The sign Reads "The Boons & Blessings" along the top with the company name along the bottom including the location "Edinburgh".

To the centre of the sign is a pictorial image of three steel nib pens with a scroll underneath and the pens names within reading "The Pickwick, The Owl & Te Waverley".

The sign is in a cream colour with a deep burgundy red to the lettering and illustrations, a great eye-catching contrast.

Originally wall mounted with the flange bracket, this sign would have been proudly displayed outside a shop which stocked these pens, promoting and advertising the brand and their products. Macniven & Cameron was a well recognised Scottish pen manufacturer, revolutionising writing in the 19th century with the upturned nib designed to glide smoothly across paper.

A lovely collectors item for anyone interested in antique advertising items. Also a great piece of decor to be shown in a home or retail setting - would look striking displayed in a library, home office or within a stationery shop.
