Rare Virol wall hanging mirror, a charming piece of advertising history dating from early 20th Century which would have likely been found in a local shop or grocers.
Virol & Milk was a popular nutritional supplement of the time, a thick, treacle like extract dissolved in warm milk, marketed to strengthen (in particular children and pregnant women). Packed with vitamins, bone marrow and malt extract, it promised vitality, energy and general well being. Production of Virol slowed during WWII due to ingredient shortage and eventually faded out.
The mirror features the classic Virol slogan 'After bathing take Virol & Milk'emphasising its role as a tonic consumed after cleansing the body and to nourish from within. Vintage advertising mirrors like this one captured the era’s focus on health, vitality and the comforting ritual of daily supplements.
