A vintage Peek Frean & Co lithography advertising tin. Likely a promotional sales tool in a shop, we expect this tin was used as a free gift with the purchase of Peek Frean biscuits or used in a shop that sold the biscuits to tie shopping / purchases with the string and at the same time promote the biscuits.
The top of the tin features a metal mount designed to hold a razor blade for cutting string, with a hole in the centre for the string to pass through.
Beautifully printed on all four sides, the tin promotes different Peek Frean products including "Pat-a-cake biscuits" which shows a child in a high chair, "assorted creams" which displays various biscuits against a green background, "assorted biscuits: and "ginger nuts".
A fantastic collectors item, this tin would look fantastic as part of a collection of other advertising tins, confectionery tins and kitchenalia.
An ideal piece to sit sideboard or countertop in a country style kitchen, cafe, bistro, haberdashery or craft setting. A great way of adding charm, history and character to any setting.
