Antique Advertising - Nenette Metal Tin & O-Cedar Car Polishing Duster c.1950

A highly collectable, motor memorabilia item for anyone interested in antique advertising, cars and car accessories. 

This collection is a unique marriage of two competing brands of the time. The duster was manufactured by O-Cedar and the metal storage tin was made by Nenette, a French brand originating from Lyon.

The concept behind the product is to remove dust from vehicles, rather than just pushing it around. 

O-Cedar pioneered oil treated dusters to ensure dust stuck to the handle mounted cotton mop. Nenette embodied the same concept and launched their competing mop and petroleum fluid 'Nenetol'. 

Popular throughout the mid to late 20th century, both brands designed these dusters to polish and remove dust while leaving a shine. 

As fierce rivals, the products were very similar and featured a flat cotton fringed duster and cylinder storage tin for it to be kept in. The likelihood is, someone misplaced their O-Cedar tin or Nenette brush and quickly realised the O-Cedar duster fits perfectly inside the Nenette storage tin. 

The duster is has a wooden red handle and the branded logo for O-Cedar.
