A lovely collectable item, this Mcvitie & Price advertising wall hanging sign is a lovely piece of confectionary history. Originally used to advertise and promote different types of biscuits, the sign would have hung in a convenience or grocers shop to catch the eye of passersby's.
The wooden frame houses 6 different images of biscuit types manufactured by the company, with the type of biscuit listed underneath each picture (minus the bottom image which doesn't have a label but looks to be a ginger biscuit). They types of biscuits included are: Digestives, Lincoln Cream, Marie, Macvita and Small rich tea. Surrounding each image is a decorative border to separate them.
The biscuit display images are in individual frames that are designed to be swapped over when new images are ready to be displayed within the frame - to the rear is a hinged side panel that open to allow the images to be removed and swapped over.
At the top of the frame is the makers plaque reading "McVitie & Price Ltd."
A fantastic collectors item to join other advertising pieces or a great item to add character and charm to an interior. Would look lovely in a country style kitchen, rustic home or within a cafe / retro style confectionary store.
