A nice example of an early 20th century Fry's Pie Cocoa shop display box.
Manufactured from pine with paper labelling.
The back panel and side has lettering printed on and reads "Fry's Cocoa along with the location Bristol London". The hinged lid opens to reveal a yellow advertising paper that matches the front panel. The yellow background compliments the dark wording and creates a great contrast. It reads "Fry's Pure Cocoa Concentrated Soluble" along with the promotional claims "36 prize medals awarded to the firm" and "Prepared by a new and special scientific process".
The crate would have sat counter top in a confectionary shop or store that stocked the cocoa. It would have held the product and allowed shop workers to easily dispense to customers.
A nice piece for any collector and decorative accent.
Dimensions: 36.5cm X 23.5cm // height 7cm
Condition: Good antique condition for age and use. Minor paper labelling loss and general age wear as to be expected.
