This match stick holder and striker is a great piece of French ceramic, advertising a liqueur drink.
This would have likely been used in a French cafe and was used to promote 'Eaux-de-vie Liqueurs', a clear fruit brandies (like pear, plum, cherry), distilled from fermented fruit whilst being practical for those who smoke.
Likely given away as a promotional piece by the drinks brand to those businesses who sold their product.
