A charming piece of retail history, this original “Colorstand” handkerchief haberdashery shop display cabinet dates to around the 1930s and captures the elegance of vintage shop merchandising.
Crafted from solid wood with a warm, rich patina, this countertop display features three tiered trays designed to neatly present folded handkerchiefs. Each drawer front retains its original “Colorbride” branding along with the additional information of "6 1/2 Each Handkerchiefs British Made Fast Colours", while the top backboard is stamped “The Colorstand Handkerchief Cabinet”.
The cabinet folds down completely to become a storage box for the handkerchiefs. This would have been ideal for shops to easily move and store the handkerchiefs when not being countertop displayed.
The cabinet’s functional design allowed customers to easily view and select items, making it a staple in haberdasheries, department stores and general stores of the time.
