Antique Advertising Chad Valley Double Decker Bus Carr's Table Water Biscuit Tin
Made from tin with colourful detailing, the piece captures the look of a traditional red London bus, complete with windows, wheels and period advertising graphics. Originally used to contain Carr’s famous table water biscuits, it would have been a standout item in any kitchen or pantry display.
Chad Valley were renowned for producing high quality novelty tins and toys, and this collaboration with Carr’s represents an excellent example of British industrial design and brand marketing from the period. The item would have proudly stood in a grocery store, toyshop and confectionery stores to promote sales of the toys and biscuits.
All sides of the tin have highly detailed aspects and advertising pieces with the words "Chad Valley Toys" along one side of the bus and "Ask for Carr's biscuits and be satisfied" along the other. The front of the bus reads various promotional pieces while the bottom of the tin has the royal crest proudly marked along with the wording "By appointment toymakers to H.M. The Queen".
A truly rare and desirable piece of 20th century advertising, this combination of two iconic brands makes the item a wonderful addition to any collection of vintage advertising, antique tins and toy items or vintage kitchenalia.
The item will also work brilliantly displayed on a dresser or sideboard adding vintage charm to any interior, kitchen or vintage style retail space.
