Antique Advertising Ceramic Worthington Match Stick Holder & Striker - Fieldings

Early 20th Century c.1920

An antique ceramic advertising match stick holder and striker for Worthington. It would have been distributed to pubs, hotels and bars to sit countertop advertising the beer and ales produced by the British company, Worthington Brewery.

It features a white body with tanned upper and lower section. The upper section is glazed with the word "Worthington" along the top. The lower section is textured and acts as the stiker to light matches.

The side has the brand logo which is the shield and dagger pointing downwards - the iconic trademark for Worthington. There is also the Royal Crest which reads "To His Majesty The King".

The base is stamped and reads "The Property of Worthington & co. ltd. Burton on Trent Fielding's England."  Fieldings was an iconic and well know British pottery manufacturer.

Ideal as a unique display piece or for use in a period inspired setting, it adds a touch of character to any home or collection. Perfect to hold matches still, the piece would look great upon a mantle, fireplace, sideboard or table for ease of lighting fires and candles.
