Antique Advertising 1960s Goya Cosmetics Eye Makeup Showcard / Shop Display Sign

c.1964

Fantastic original large antique advertising showcard of an eye makeup range launched by Goya in the 1960's.

This shop display piece would have likely sat in a cosmetics area of a department store, advertising a new launch or range of eye makeup. The 'New Golden Girl' launch, with the tagline 'Golden Girl eye Mae-up made specially creamy to make 'eyes' easy was c.1964 and with how the lady is depicted with favoured blue eye makeup is a typical nod to this era.

The showcard promotes a variety of Goya products including 'Goya Golden Girl Eye Shadow-matic', 'Goya Golden Girl Brush-matic mascara', 'Goya Golden Girl Compact Mascara' and 'Goya Golden Girl  Automatic Self Sharpening Eye Pencil and Refill leads'.

The base of the showcard also shows the variety of shades these products were available in.

Goya was a cosmetics and perfume company founded in the UK c.1936 by Douglas Collins. Goya gained significant recognition and popularity after a large sample giveaway with Woman's Journal in 1938. The cosmetic range included, but was not limited to, hair cream, powders, bath products and hand lotions. The company closed in c.1985.

This is a fantastic piece of rare antique advertising and would be a great addition to any advertising collector. This piece would also look brilliant in a dressing room or makeup environment.
