Antique Advertising 1930’s Herbert Robinson & Co Sheffield Shop Display Cabinet
Early 20th Century c.1930
This large sized (4ft in height) shop display cabinet was manufactured by the cutlery and steel company Herbert Robinson & Co. for their Canton Works based in Sheffield England.
Designed to showcase premium Sheffield cutlery and hardware in retail shops or trade shows, this thin wall mounted cabinet is a lovely example of early 20th century commercial advertising.
The top section features a gilded glass sign. The gold lettering reads "HERBERT ROBINSON & Co. / CANTON WORKS / SHEFFIELD". The cabinet has a slim wooden frame and is designed to fit the wall perfectly without sticking out too far or taking up floor space.
The clear glass front panel opens up to a lined interior, perfect for displaying collections, jewellery, leaflets and notices.
To access the interior of the cabinet is by removing the back panel so when it is on the wall, no one would be able to open it up and removed the contents - We have had this as part of our personal collection on display at the shop for 5 years but it is now to move it on for someone else to enjoy as we free up some wall space in the shop.
A great collectors piece in itself for anyone interested in antique advertising, shop display cabinets or wooden and glassware.
