J. Bottomley & Sons Ltd. was a well known sweet and confectionary manufactured based at the Victoria Park Mint Rock works in Keighley, Yorkshire. They were established in the mid 19th century and operated for over 100 years before closing in 1981. They were renowned for this rock, lime fruit tablets, and varies flavour of toffee.
This nostalgic piece features a classic bucket style design with a cylindrical body, fitted lid and sturdy metal swing handle with wooden hold, giving it both decorative appeal and practical character.
The tin is a deep blue colour and has bold advertising text for “Matchless Creamy Toffee,” displaying the rich colours and typography typical of early sweet shop advertising.
